Artist: Eminem
Bio
Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), better known by his stage name Eminem/Slim Shady is an American rapper and record producer. Eminem learned his trade while growing up in Detroit, United States, and quickly gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label album, The Slim Shady LP, which won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The following album, The Marshall Mathers LP, became the fastest-selling solo album in the United States history.
The Marshall Mathers LP and his third album, The Eminem Show, also won Grammy Awards, making Eminem the first artist to win Best Rap Album for three consecutive LPs. He then won the award again in 2010 for his album Relapse, giving him a total of 11 Grammys in his career. In 2002, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself" from the film, 8 Mile, in which he also played the lead. "Lose Yourself" would go on to become the longest running #1 hip-hop single. Eminem then went on hiatus after touring in 2005. He released his first album since 2004's Encore, titled Relapse, on May 15, 2009. Relapse Part 2 was due to be released in 2010, but scrapped it due to media and fans and so he decided to release his latest album Recovery. Eminem is the best-selling artist of the decade on the US Nielsen SoundScan, and has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide to date, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world.
Eminem was ranked 82nd on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time.He was also named the Best Rapper Ever by Vibe magazine. Including his work with D12, Eminem has achieved nine #1 albums on the Billboard Top 200, 7 solo and 2 with D12. Eminem has had 12 number one singles worldwide. In December 2009 Eminem was named the Artist of the Decade by Billboard magazine. His albums The Eminem Show, The Marshall Mathers LP, and Encore (in order) ranked as the 3rd. 7th, and 40th best album of the 2000-2009 decade by Billboard magazine. According to Billboard, Eminem has two of his albums among the top five highest selling albums of the 2000s. In the UK, Eminem has sold over 12.5 million records.

YELAWOLF ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE DATE FOR DEBUT FULL-LENGTH STUDIO ALBUM RADIOACTIVE
ALBUM TO BE RELEASED BY GHET-O-VISION ENTERTAINMENT/SHADY RECORDS/DGC/INTERSCOPE ON November 21st
ALABAMA RAPPER ON THE ROAD FOR “HARD WHITE” TOUR
October 7, 2011 — Santa Monica, CA — Alabama rapper Yelawolf has decided to move the release of his debut full-length studio album Radioactive from its previously announced October 25th drop date to put extra finishing touches on the album. Radioactive will now be released by Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment/Shady Records/DGC/Interscope on November 21st.
“I needed to add some important finishing touches to the album which resulted in the new release date,” said Yelawolf. “I have some surprises in store for the fans that have to be seen before the album comes out. It’s definitely worth the wait.”
The album’s first single, “Hard White (Up In The Club),” featuring Lil Jon, is currently available via all digital retailers. Radioactive is Yelawolf’s first album after the partnering of Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment and the Eminem-led Shady Records. The album, which finds Yelawolf working with such producers as SupaHotBeats, Justice League, The Audibles, and Diplo, follows Yelawolf's critically acclaimed Trunk Muzik 0-60 (Ghet-O-Vision/DGC/Interscope) — a 2010 compilation of tracks from his Trunk Muzik mixtape along with previously unavailable recordings.
Yelawolf is currently on the road with The “Hard White” Tour alongside DJ Craze and Rittz. The tour began in Starkville, MS and criss-crosses the U.S. before wrapping up in Las Vegas on October 28th.

EMINEM SETS NEW RECORD WITH ONE MILLION IN DIGITAL ALBUMS SALES OF HIS 2010 ALBUM RECOVERY
CHART-TOPPING, GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING RECOVERY IS FIRST ALBUM TO EVER SELL ONE MILLION DIGITAL COPIES
July 5th, 2011 — Santa Monica, CA — Multi-platinum hip-hop artist Eminem has become the first artist ever to sell one million digital copies in the U.S. of an album as his 2010 release — the chart-topping, Grammy Award-winning Recovery — surges past the one million mark this week.
This record-setting career milestone comes just one week after the superstar artist landed at No. 1 with Hell: The Sequel, the release from Bad Meets Evil, Eminem’s collaboration with fellow Detroit native Royce Da 5’9.” This marks the first time in the last five years an artist has scored two No. 1 albums within a 12-month period.
“Recovery selling one million digital albums is an incredible achievement by an incredible artist,” says Interscope Records’ Vice Chairman Steve Berman. “I have had the pleasure of working with Eminem throughout the course of his career, and I’m delighted to be a part of yet another milestone on his amazing journey.”
"We are thrilled to congratulate Eminem on the history-making digital sales success of Recovery,” says Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg. “Over the years we've made a concerted effort to engage Em's online fan base so this achievement is especially rewarding. Eminem made an amazing album with Recovery and the fans responded in record numbers."
Recovery debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart (Eminem’s sixth album to do so), as well on as the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap Albums charts, marking the beginning of a triumphant comeback for the artist. The best-selling album of 2010 in the U.S. and the best-selling digital album of all-time, Recovery has now sold more than 5.7 million copies worldwide, propelled by its No. 1 singles “Not Afraid” (which earned Eminem a Grammy Award for “Best Rap Solo Performance” and two MTV Video Music Awards, and has sold more than 3.4 million downloads in the U.S.) and “Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, which spent seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has sold more than five million downloads in the U.S. and 9.3 million downloads worldwide. “Love The Way You Lie” earned five Grammy Award nominations, including “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year,” and won Billboard Music, Soul Train, and People’s Choice awards.

IT’S SHADY 2.0: EMINEM ANNOUNCES THE SIGNINGS OF YELAWOLF AND SLAUGHTERHOUSE TO SHADY RECORDS ROSTER
SLAUGHTERHOUSE JOINS SHADY RECORDS & INTERSCOPE RECORDS, YELAWOLF ADDS SHADY RECORDS TO THE TEAM
Complete Story Told Exclusively In The March 2011 XXL Magazine On Stands Nationally February 8th
SANTA MONICA, CA – January 12, 2011 – Rap supergroup Slaughterhouse and budding superstar Yelawolf have been signed to Eminem’s Shady Records it was announced today.
“Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, it’s kinda phase two of Shady,” says Eminem. “It’s the new generation of Shady Records and as we’re trying to rebuild our label, it’s exciting for hip-hop and with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody’s capable of on the mic, it’s gonna be fun.”
Bringing together the East Coast, West Coast and Detroit in the middle, Slaughterhouse consists of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9”. Most recently, Slaughterhouse was featured on “Session One,” a bonus track on Eminem’s 2010 blockbuster Recovery album. Eminem is expected to be personally involved in Slaughterhouse’s sophomore album scheduled for release in 2011.
Said Royce Da 5'9": “It's very exciting for me to reunite with Eminem years after our Bad Meets Evil project together. Slaughterhouse on Shady Records will be a force to reckon with.”
Late last year, Yelawolf released Trunk Muzik 0-60, a compilation of select tracks from his critically acclaimed 2010 mixtape Trunk Muzik, along with six previously unavailable songs. The Alabama native is currently in the studio recording his full length major label debut.
Said Yelawolf: “Considering where I’m from and the shit I’ve been through, it’s hard to put into words what partnering with Shady means to me, my team at Ghet-O-Vision, and my state of Alabama. I can tell you that when you’re willing to give your life up to see a dream through, the reward is great. And now that I’ve become an apprentice to one of the greatest artists in the world, my potential reaches beyond anything I ever imagined. Let’s kill this shit.”
Shady Records was founded in 1999 by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg. D12, the label’s first signing, were also Shady’s first breakout stars, selling more than four million albums in the U.S. In 2002, the label released the quadruple platinum 8 Mile soundtrack, with its hit single “Lose Yourself”--the first hip-hop song to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Shady Records then partnered with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment to ink 50 Cent, who subsequently has sold more than 23 million albums worldwide. Of Shady’s 11 albums to date, four have earned U.S. multiplatinum certification, three others platinum (including the compilation Eminem Presents: The Re-Up) and two gold. The label has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.

VIDEO FOR EMINEM’S SMASH SINGLE “LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE,” FEATURING RIHANNA, TO PREMIERE ON MTV AND VEVO THIS THURSDAY, AUGUST 5TH, AT 9 PM EDT
EAGERLY AWAITED CLIP FEATURES RIHANNA, MEGAN FOX, AND DOMINIC MONAGHAN
Eminem, the Nielsen SoundScan Artist of the Decade for 2000-2009, will premiere the eagerly awaited video for his No. 1 single “Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, on MTV and VEVO.com on Thursday, August 5th at 9:00 PM EDT. Shot in Los Angeles, the video was directed by Joseph Kahn, who, in addition to his work on previous Eminem videos, has also directed clips for Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, and 50 Cent among many others. Rihanna appears in the video, which also features Megan Fox (Transformers) and Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings, Lost) playing a couple going through the extremes of an abusive relationship.
“Joseph and I worked pretty closely together to make sure we got this right,” commented Eminem. “Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic on board for this….they really brought it and made this video super-powerful.”
“Love The Way You Lie” is Eminem’s fourth single to top the Billboard Hot 100. It has reigned at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart for five consecutive weeks and has sold more than 1.4 million downloads. The track is the second single released from Eminem’s latest album Recovery (Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records), which bowed at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart in June with sales of 741,000 copies, and held the top slot for 5 weeks. The album easily outpaced any other release for this year, and set a bar that no other album has reached for first-week sales in nearly two years.
In May, Recovery’s first single, "Not Afraid," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the first rap song to do so in 13 years. Recovery has being hailed as a tour de force for the rapper, earning a four-star review from Rolling Stone, which described it as "his fiercest and most focused work in a long time,” while USA Today proclaimed it “a strong return to the form that made him a star in the first place."
Yesterday, Eminem received 8 nominations for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Eminem and Jay-Z will perform co-headlining dates at Detroit’s Comerica Park on September 2nd and 3rd and at New York's Yankee Stadium on September 13th and 14th. Tickets for the four shows are sold-out. Eminem will also be performing at the Epicenter Festival in Southern California on September 25th. Tickets are still available from http://www.epicenterfestival.com/
Megan Fox donated her fee for her video appearance to Sojourn, a shelter for abused women. Sojourn provides battered women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives. For more information on Sojourn please visit http://www.opcc.net/

Eminem, 'Recovery' (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) - Spin (reviews)
Like all great orators -- stand-up comedians, politicians, preachers, wrestlers, etc. -- rappers are at their best when they’re grounded in a unique point of view, an arresting way of seeing, digesting, synthesizing, and explaining the world that's somewhat cohesive at its core. The problem with Eminem as an MC at this exact moment is that like all recovering addicts, his core worldview, by necessity, is a mess.
On 2009's Relapse, his fifth solo album and first since kicking an addiction to painkillers, Eminem reverted to tried-and-true tropes from his maniacal past -- celebrity bashing, rape fantasies, horrorcore schlock -- in an effort to get his creativity and career back up and running. Technically, the trick worked -- Relapse may be flawed, but it sold well, and as a rap artifact, it’s a dizzying trip into the tightly wound mind of one of the genre's all-time lyricists. For Eminem and his camp, it seemed sufficient that he was simply working again. But after the album was critically panned by many, Em himself later backed away from the project publicly, and Relapse appears destined to go down as an artistic failure.
Now there's Recovery, Eminem’s second album since cleaning up his act, and unlike Relapse, it is a lot cleaner. Not that he's gone PG or stopped spitting profanities, but the feverish nightmares have been shelved, and he's digging deeper into his past, emerging in a proper fighting stance. It's a posture that plays to his strengths. By abandoning the shock for shock's sake, he showcases his protean skills -- there's still no MC more capable of rapping a circle into a square, while making you enjoy his displays of sick lyrical imagination.
The only problem is that the battle raps, too, are a relic of Em’s past, so when he bares his fangs against any and all comers on songs like "Cold Wind Blow," "Won’t Back Down" and "On Fire," the effect is less king of the jungle and more wounded animal backed into a corner, unpredictable and dangerous. His admission on the self-effacing "Talkin' to Myself" that during his darkest days he considered going at Kanye West and Lil Wayne only drives home the point. Em is still in the process of reassembling his shattered personality -- trying things on, throwing things away. He’s unsure of who he wants to be, both as an MC and as a man -- and it shows..
Though his wordplay may be tighter when he’s got his guard up, or on the few occasions when he lets his Slim Shady alter ego run free ("So Bad" and "Almost Famous"), it's the more vulnerable, introspective moments -- "Talkin' To Myself," "Going Through Changes," "You’re Never Over," and the stadium-ready lead single "Not Afraid" -- that give the album its heart. Finally, Eminem addresses his personal and professional failings head-on, rather than hiding behind a joke or inside a nightmare. It’s a necessary first step in moving on.
Clearly, finding a new, fully formed, post-addiction voice is going to take time. But as the best-selling artist of the decade across any genre, and as the only major rapper to openly struggle with drug dependence in his music, Eminem potentially could speak from a fascinating and fresh perspective. And considering that we live in a society riddled with addicts, his ongoing artistic recovery could still find a huge audience. So is Recovery a classic album? No. But is it an essential one in shaping Eminem’s future? Absolutely.
Eminem - Recovery - Exclaim! (Reviews)
Early in his career, Eminem easily shed protégé status with a couple of caustic cuts but, ten years on, with his triumphant turn on Drake's collabo record ("Forever"), Marshall Mathers is reminding us that, oh yeah, he's still got top-five pedigree. But does the post-rehab refresh boost his work on seventh album Recovery? The usual doom and gloom veneer is still there ― it's central to Marshall's twisted thesis ― but gone, for the most part, are the overly cartoonish cadences in favour of a more mature, forceful flow. You hear it from the jump on Just Blaze's frenetic "Cold...Read More

EMINEM AND JAY-Z TO HEADLINE NEW YORK’S YANKEE STADIUM AND DETROIT’S COMERICA PARK IN SEPTEMBER
SANTA MONICA, CA – May 12, 2010 – Two superstars, two stadiums, two concerts, two unforgettable events. In a rare co-headlining concert pairing, JAY-Z, who has scored more #1 albums than any solo artist in history, and EMINEM, the biggest selling artist of the 2000s, will share a stage with each headlining in his own hometown--EMINEM at Detroit’s Comerica Park and JAY-Z at New York’s Yankee Stadium. The Detroit show is set for Thursday, September 2 and the New York performance is scheduled for Monday, September 13. Both shows will be produced by Live Nation. JAY-Z and EMINEM made an appearance together earlier tonight at Comerica Park, where the Tigers hosted the Yankees, to announce the shows.
"This is a once in a lifetime set of shows and I know we’re both really going to bring it to our home towns” said EMINEM. “The fans are going to love this--and so am I. It’s gonna be historic.” Full EMINEM concerts have been few in recent years. His performance last October at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans was his first full concert since summer 2005. His newest album, Recovery (Aftermath/Interscope), will be released June 22.
Said JAY-Z: “These shows are like a dream come true. I've always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music. How perfect is it that Eminem and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board.” JAY-Z is currently touring stadiums, arenas and festivals around the world in support of his latest #1 album, 2009’s Blueprint 3 (Roc Nation).
Since 1996, 10-time Grammy award winner, Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter has dominated the rap industry and set trends for a generation. Now in 2010, he personifies the “American Dream.” Founder and chairman of Rocawear, he is also co-owner of the NJ Nets, 40/40 sportsclubs, Translation Advertising and Carol’s Daughter skin line, as well involved in a partnership with Iconix Brand Group. After three successful years as President and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, where he fostered the careers of international stars Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Kanye West, JAY-Z entered into a partnership with Live Nation to form Roc Nation. Through Roc Nation, JAY-Z released the Blueprint 3, his 11th #1 album, putting him ahead of Elvis for most #1 albums by any solo artist. He continues his philanthropic work through his Water For Live initiative and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
EMINEM has sold more than 80,000,000 albums worldwide and won 11 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. After 1999’s quintuple platinum The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002) became two of the Top 5 best selling albums of the 2000s, with approximately 10,000,000 copies of each sold in the U.S. alone. 2004’s Grammy-nominated Encore reached #1 and was certified quadruple platinum. The #1, double platinum, 2005 greatest hits collection Curtain Call: The Hits and #2, platinum, 2006 various artists compilation Eminem Presents: The Re-Up followed. 2009’s Relapse, the #1-charting winner of the Best Rap Album Grammy was, at nearly double platinum, the best selling rap album of the year. “Not Afraid,” the first single off his upcoming Recovery album, was released two weeks ago and soared to #1 on the iTunes chart, and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

EMINEM RETURNS TO EUROPE THIS JULY | Eminem | News - Interscope

RAP ICON TO HEADLINETHREE MAJOR FESTIVALS: T IN THE PARK, OPENAIR FRAUENFELD & OXEGEN
Multi-platinum, Oscar and Grammy-winning rapsuperstar Eminem will descend upon European soil to headline three major festivals this summer - Scotland’s T In The Park, Switzerland’s Openair Frauenfeld and Ireland’s Oxegen - giving hundreds of thousands of fans a live dose of select tracks from his impressive catalogue.
First, the hip-hop icon storms the UK, headlining the mainstage at Scotland’s T In The Park in early July. This marks Eminem's first European show in five years and his first-ever appearance at the festival. He then continues his European return with appearances at Gampel, Switzerland's Openair Frauenfeldand Dublin, Ireland's Oxegen 2010. Much like the blistering show he performed at New Orleans’ Voodoo Festin October 2009, Eminem will be performing with a live band, bringing a new and different level of intensity to his music. He will also be joined on by his group D12 all the dates.
“I’m excited to get backto Europe to rock some shows,” said Eminem. “The crowds there are always big, crazy and dedicated…it’s going to be great to feel that energy again.”
At the 16th annual Openair Frauenfeld, Eminem is set to share the stage with another hiphop legend, Jay-Z. His headlining set is expected to draw 40,000 fans.
Marshall Mathers will also take the stage in Dublin, closing out Oxegen with a highly anticipated mainstage headline set. It's Eminem's first appearance in Ireland since his phenomenal sold out shows to over 200,000 fans in Marley Park in 2004. Eminem will follow an Oxegen tradition that's included unforgettable performances by previous headliners The Who, Muse and Kings of Leon.
2009 has seen there-emergence of one of hip-hop’s finest MC’s. Ever since he returned to the game with Relapse, the biggest selling hip-hop album of last year, Eminem has made himself an unmistakable presence: from the chart topping success of the album, through live performances at the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards, to ferocious verses on tracks with Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Drake. He also snatched up two more GrammyAwards at the 2010 ceremony, upping his total count to eleven.
Since dropping his classic debut The Slim Shady LP in 1999, Eminem has sold over 75 million albumsworldwide, and over 30 million in the United States. He is the biggest selling artist of the last 10 years, a feat that resulted in him being recently named Artist of the Decade by NielsenSoundscan.
